    PBS NewsHour Weekend [#863H] Dairy Wars As the NAFTA renegotiations continue between Mexico, Canada and the United States, the dairy trade has emerged as one of many points of contention. While NAFTA opened a sizable market in Mexico for U.S. dairy farmers, the U.S. did not gain the same access to Canada. Now, as part of the ongoing NAFTA negotiations, the U.S. is asking Canada to dismantle its heavily protected dairy system and to allow American dairy producers entry into the Canadian market. The Canadians have called the request "aggressive" and "irrational" and U.S. dairy producers fear that if NAFTA falls apart it may well risk their greatest export market: Mexico.
