Episode 1 (#109H) Duration: 58:14 STEREO TVPG

A young man (Robbie) gets into an altercation on the ferry from Aberdeen to Shetland, witnessed by a young woman (Leanne). The two spend time together, but when Leanne wakes as the ferry arrives in Shetland, Robbie has disappeared. Later that day, a little boy ends up in intensive care after eating a 'sweet' he found on the beach. D. I. Jimmy Perez searches the beach that night and recovers a rucksack, but not before a hooded figure tries, and fails, to take it from him. Back at the station, Perez and his team (D.S Alison 'Tosh' McIntosh and D.C. Sandy Wilson) discover that the bag contains multiple packets of brightly coloured pills and the pulpy remains of a boarding pass belonging to someone called Robert.

Episode 2 (#110H) Duration: 1:17:00 STEREO TVPG

Although frustrated and angry at the obstacles being put in their way, Perez and his team continue to investigate the death of Robbie Morton. They quickly establish that Robbie's body was retrieved from inside a shipping container and, as it can only be locked externally, Maguire remains their prime suspect for murder. A search of the ferry reveals that someone forced entry into the deck where the shipping container was parked overnight.

Episode 3 (#111H) Duration: 56:33 STEREO TVPG

Perez's investigation takes a frustrating and unexpected turn when his prime suspect in the murder of Robbie Morton, Michael Maguire, is found dead in what appears to be a professional hit. It transpires that Maguire - real name Michael Thompson - was on Witness Protection on Shetland. Hitting a wall of silence on the case, Perez and Rhona travel to Glasgow to seek the aid of Phyllis Brennan, Senior Area Fiscal Procurator, and are able to obtain the name they're looking for: notorious Glasgow gangster Arthur McCall.

Episode 4 (#112H) Duration: 56:38 STEREO TVPG

In light of the discovery Robbie Morton and Michael Thompson were father and son, Perez decides to go back to the beginning of the investigation, convinced that Arthur McCall lies at the heart of the case. As Tosh continues to search for Brian McDade in Glasgow (the fiscal Michael spoke to about his Witness Protection deal) the cleaned transcript from Michael's last phone call to Freya is received. Unfortunately Michael's words are still fragmented but a reference to "Level Nine' and 'Burn' can be clearly heard. Freya, upset as she listens, has no idea what Michael was trying to say to her. Bewildered by how little she knew, she begs Perez to make the Witness Protection team speak to her, so she can try and find some sort of peace.
