(1952) (Episode null)

KQED 9: Sat, Feb 14, 2009 -- 8:00 PM

Described by some critics as "the greatest musical ever made", this American classic stars Gene Kelly as a Hollywood star of the silent era who finds his career jeopardized when he and his shrill-voiced leading lady must appear in a talkie together. The cast also features Donald O'Connor, Debbie Reynolds, Cyd Charisse and Rita Moreno. Kelly's famously romantic wet song and dance during the title track and O'Connor's brilliantly funny "Make 'em Laugh" are just two of the outstanding musical treats. The American Film Institute has named the film among the top 10 American films ever and one of the top 20 greatest love stories of all time. Directed by Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly, written by Adolph Green and Betty Comden.
