Jim visits the art studio of a father and son who master in mosaic art, meets an iconic fashion embroidery artist, visits the Aurifil Thread factory, and crafts the perfect gelato.

Jim West travels to Jaipur, India where master artisans teach wood block printing, create henna designs, along with miniature painting and brass inlay work. He also creates rangoli designs from rice and flowers, visits a family who make puppets in the Kathputhli Slums and creates India's staple dish-dal bhat tarkari.

Poland (Episode #104H)

KQED Plus: Tue, Nov 14, 2017 -- 9:30 AM

Jim West travels to the Warsaw and Krakow areas of Poland where master artisans teach how to make traditional Polish folk dolls, stained glass, and exquisite pottery. He makes Polish pierogi, visits the Wieliczka Salt Mines, and travels to a small "painted" village. He also sees the largest piece of lace in the world.

Guatemala (Episode #103H)

KQED Plus: Tue, Nov 7, 2017 -- 9:30 AM

Jim West travels to colorful Guatemala where master artisans teach cotton dying, back strap and loom weaving, hand embroidery, pine needle basket making, and crafting functional mats from the reeds found in Lake Atitlon. Jim makes tasty tamales, learns about iron work and creates an artistic journal with celebrity artist Pam Holland.

      KQED transmitter will off on March 6th at  3-6 at 3am-6am.  This will disrupt over-the-air reception and DirectTV viewers. Comcast and Monterey reception will not be impacted.

    • KQED FM on Comcast services

      KQED FM and other radio channels were recently dropped from Comcast’s local cable offerings. Affected users can still listen to KQED at 88.5 FM on their radios, or listen to the live stream at kqed.org/listenlive or by downloading the KQED app, or on smart speakers.

    • KQED DT9, Sutro Tower ? Mon 8/20 thru Fri 8/24/18
