We start off with a local favorite that's low on atmosphere but high on flavor and full of fragrant Indian spices. It's called Lahore Karahi and it's on O'Farrell in San Francisco. Filipino-Spanish flavors reflecting the rich history of the Philippines are perfect for sharing so bring a crowd over to Patio Filipino on El Camino Real in San Bruno. Some things never change and Sam's Grill and Seafood Restaurant on Bush is the perfect example. It's been around at the same location since 1946! Oh, and the booths there make for a very private dining experience.

First, we take a stop at Hayes Street Grill, a local institution that stands on its reputation for the best and freshest fish around. Then, we cozy up to a little family-run spot called Mama's on Washington Square where they serve up a menu with fresh waffles and pancakes for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Sahn Maru Korean BBQ offers more than just barbecue. Its traditional Korean fare comes with warm, family-friendly service and plenty of tasty banchan (small side dishes).

The Old Clam House, Gialina, Mustards Grill (Episode #407H)

A turn of the century building has housed The Old Clam House for over 100 years and its still serving some of the same fare. In contrast, Gialina has only been around for three years and delivers a contemporary menu. American food traditions continue at Mustards Grill, which celebrated its 25th birthday in 2008.

We meet a chef inspired by her childhood in Barbados who serves up Caribbean flavors at Miss Ollie's in Oakland. Next, we step into a fairytale fit for the Brothers Grimm with Eastern European furnishings, fixtures and flavors at Mama Papa Lithuania Restaurant in Alameda. Lastly, we lighten things up and end with bright, clean flavors fresh from the ocean at Bar Crudo in San Francisco.
