Youth Takeover ProgramYouth Takeover Program
Students have a lot to say, and KQED wants to share their voices with an audience beyond the classroom. Youth Takeover is a unique year-long program that partners with high school classrooms from nine Bay Area counties to help students produce audio feature stories destined for KQED’s broadcast, podcast and online programming—including shows like Perspectives, Forum, Bay Curious, Rightnowish and other local favorites.
Sound like an incredible opportunity for your students? Want to be a part of next year’s Youth Takeover? Participating teachers receive curricular support and customized assistance in media-making by KQED’s Youth Media team. Not in the Bay Area? Check out our Youth Media Challenges, where middle and high school students across the U.S. make their voices heard through original media pieces centered around a topic of their choice. All student media submissions are published on the online showcase, and also reviewed for possible inclusion in highlight videos, special features, and on KQED programming.
