Answer: Gabe's Words (return to vernacular)
I was using the term "mainstream" (i.e., what's in style, fashion, etc.) in a physical manner, saying it was a river. But then I say that I don't want to be part of the mainstream, and instead I'll take the rapids and rougher patches of the river. It is all a metaphor to convey that I am "not every teen" and I am an independent person.
