    Stacy's Story & Mary's Story
This site features stories about Stacy and Mary, teen moms in Ohio and Kentucky.

Stacy's story talks about how Stacy's mother, Stephanie, regrets that she didn't discuss birth control with her daughter. "I knew she was pregnant, so I confronted her about it and she told me that she had two periods last month so she was fine. She must have thought I was stupid," says Stephanie, now able to laugh about that moment. "But Kelsey is here and we love her a lot," Stephanie explains as she picks up her granddaughter to kiss her and plays with her.

Mary found help in community programs for food and utilities, and looked to the government for help with prenatal care. When asked asked what would happen if government subsidies were taken away, she responded, "I wouldn't be eating. I'd be eating macaroni and cheese all the time. I'd be very unhealthy. Right now we go through food stamps so fast because I'm pregnant. We have to use what little cash we have to buy more food."
