Many people from all over the whole world came to America for many different reasons. They come for religious freedom, salvation, for the future of their children and for financial opportunities.

But above all, people come to America for a better life because America is full of opportunities. My family immigrated to the United States because they wanted to make more money and provide a better future for me. In order to make that happen, they had to work extra hard just to make ends meet. My parents worked so hard that even I didn't see them for a while. I go to school early in the morning and they would be sleeping. When I came home after school, they would be at work; my mom would come home around 7 p.m. and my dad would be home at around 11 p.m.

For the past hundred years, people all over the world came to America with the dream of striking it rich. In the 1850s California was the center of attention in the United States because of the Gold Rush. A majority of Chinese came over for gold but ended up working on the railroads. Although some may have succeeded on striking it rich and headed back to their home country, others stayed behind despite racist acts towards them. People still continue to come to America for the dream of making it rich. But nowadays, people come for more than money, they come for the religious freedom, education, for the future of their children or perhaps salvation.

People's minds are clouded with constant survival and their reason for being here. They are easily mixed into the American culture. America is a melting pot, where most cultures are lost in the ever-changing society.
