When I came to the USA from Poland, I realized that I can be who I want to be and that I can do what I want to do and nobody would say anything to me.

In my country people think that America is a perfect country, where your dreams come true. When I came here and I crossed the border, I felt like new opportunities were just in front of me. I felt like my dream was coming true.

When my father drove me home from the airport to our (my) new house I saw so many shops, cars, buildings... that was just amazing.

Then I got to my new house and when I opened the door to see how it would look, I just stood there astonished that the house was the size of my bedroom in Poland. I was also shocked because I thought that I would live in one of those beautiful houses like they show in the movies.

In my school I had a lot of problems with language but I overcame them quickly because I spent a lot of time after school studying English and doing my homework.

Right now after living here 2.5 years I know that if I put my work into America, my dreams will come true. That's why I like America so much.
