a Chinese and raised in America, this child must learn to deal with
the two cultures and their different values: Chinese and American.
In America, there is an emphasis on individualism, while the Chinese
emphasize contributing to the community that surrounds the individual.
This child must learn to embrace the American values, while not
abandoning her traditional Chinese values.
