The crisis in California’s health
care delivery system continues to worsen. Each month, more providers
declare bankruptcy. Doctors' groups are folding. Hospitals are curtailing
services and sometimes closing clinics altogether. Specialists are
harder to find. The result is a lack of access to care. What is the
role of the state’s elected officials in addressing these complex
issues? And how are the politicians addressing them as we head toward
the November election? Health care lobbying groups, representing all
facets of the industry, from insurers to providers, spend huge sums
trying to influence state policy. For millions of voters, particularly
older Californians, it’s a make-or-break issue at the polls.
We’ll hear from the candidates and talk about the issues.
