The California Report: Health Dialogues
From antibiotics to cardiac medications, the pharmaceutical industry has produced many life-saving therapies. In recent years, however, drug companies are increasingly investing their resources in more lucrative lifestyle drugs like Viagra and allergy medications. Critics already complain that the industry excessively profits due to lavish marketing campaigns and prices that place prescription drugs beyond the reach of many uninsured Californians. This edition of Health Dialogues looks at the implications of the shifts in research and development for pharmaceutical drugs.
