Rescuing the Innocent: Babies on Drugs
Children growing up around meth labs are testing positive
for the drug. Resulting brain damage may never heal, leaving
"wounded children." Is the brain damage reversible
or not? New brain research will change the way health care

Special Report
Behind thick walls at the Santa Barbara Courthouse, a man
stands before a judge and is arraigned on various felony charges
of violating probation. He will most likely be returned to
prison. Hundreds of similar cases pass through the judicial
system each day, and most have one thing in common -- the
defendants are all addicts. KCLU's Art Kraft talks to Fidel,
a 16 year-old heroin addict who's been released from prison
for the fourth time. We'll hear from a public defender who
handles these cases and the people who run the prop 36 program
in Santa Barbara.

Special Report
In this segment, reporter Sue Wilson will tell the story of
a woman who got herself arrested so she could get treatment
for her addiction. We'll follow the woman into drug court
and find out how the judge views her progress. We'll also
ask each task force member responsible for implementing Prop
36 how well it's going. The answer varies with each participant.
