June Jordan

Well, my father taught me how to box, and I think that was maybe the most important thing I ever learned. I try to affect the way people think about things. And I try to expand how folks will think about things, redefine what they think the issues are. And I also try to get people mad, you know, basically punch people in the nose sort of thing, and or pull 'em along as much as I can politically. You know, what I mean by that is just because it's so obvious that any, I think that any one of us is so limited, it can't be done like that. We have to join each other. We have to, we have to in order to make things really, really change. And so anyway, that's how I got here, was from my father teaching me how to fight.
