As a child, I do not remember ever hearing anything about the concentration camps in this country. Certainly I had heard about the Holocaust and the concentration camps overseas but I do not remember ever having heard about the so-called internment camps here in the United States. In my education in middle school and high school, when you take U.S. history and you're expected to learn, you know you expect that you are learning about what has happened in this country.

I thought what profound hypocrisy that we can point a finger at other people so clearly. I saw Rabbit in the Moon as both their story, their unique story, but also my story in my understanding of the hypocrisy of this nation, of the contradiction of living in the United States as a citizen.
