  Emiko Omori, a native Californian, is a highly regarded cinematographer, writer, and director. In 1968, she was the first woman news cameraperson in San Francisco on the critically acclaimed KQED program, "Newsroom." For the past thirty years, she has freelanced as cinematographer on many award-winning documentaries, features, industrials, commercials, and educational films. In 1990, she wrote and directed a drama, based on two short stories by Hisaye Yamamoto, entitled "Hot Summer Winds," which aired nationally on PBS in May of 1991.

Her other personal films include: "Tattoo City," a documentary about the art of full body, Japanese-style tattooing, and "The Departure," a short narrative film. She was the series producer for "Pacific Diaries," three documentaries produced by and about Pacific Islanders. At present, she is teaching in the Cinema Department of the City College of San Francisco.
