In regards to a school curriculum, he feels that homosexuality should be part of a middle or high school class of human sexuality or science. His definition of being Gay or Lesbian: two people of the same sex are attracted to each other and/or are in a loving relationship. |

Frank and Sylvia Starks live in Alameda and are the parents of three children. Frank is a Ph.D. candidate in organizational psychology. Frank, an African American, equates homophobia with racism. He believes that education is the key to diffusing the fear and ignorance that can lead to bigotry. |

Mark Zapalik is the director of the Traditional Values Coalition of Contra Costa County. He is a Christian, stepfather of six, and a father of a 16-month-old. He believes that with parental consent an elective course on homosexuality in high school should be the extent of teaching this subject in school. |
