Jennifer Carlin

Jennifer Carlin holds an M.F.C.C. and is a lesbian and mother who has expressed strong support for including Gay & Lesbian issues in the classroom.

Susan Dworak

Susan and Joe Dworak are San Jose Attorneys. They have a 10-month-old and are currently expecting another child. Susan has mixed feelings in regards to schools teaching about homosexuality: Should this be a family matter rather than a subject to be taught in school?

Rob Lessler

Rob Lessler is a teacher in Sacramento and father of two children. In regards to a school curriculum, he feels that homosexuality should be part of a middle or high school class of human sexuality or science. His definition of being Gay or Lesbian: two people of the same sex are attracted to each other and/or are in a loving relationship.

Frank Starks

Frank and Sylvia Starks live in Alameda and are the parents of three children. Frank is a Ph.D. candidate in organizational psychology. Frank, an African American, equates homophobia with racism. He believes that education is the key to diffusing the fear and ignorance that can lead to bigotry.

Mark Zapolik

Mark Zapalik is the director of the Traditional Values Coalition of Contra Costa County. He is a Christian, stepfather of six, and a father of a 16-month-old. He believes that with parental consent an elective course on homosexuality in high school should be the extent of teaching this subject in school.
