The Bay Window: Children with Asthma film is intended to have a life beyond the broadcast on KQED Public TV. Through a variety of community outreach efforts involving statewide health-care organizations, hospitals, public and private schools, community groups, and parents' organizations, KQED is working to help educate and inform the public about this debilitating childhood disease and what people can do to protect and improve the health of children.

KQED's community outreach efforts around Children with Asthma include

  • a community screening hosted by KQED's EdNet followed by a discussion among participating parents, community leaders and health-care providers.
  • providing information and other resources for use by health maintenance organizations throughout California.
  • educational materials for kindergarten through 12th-grade classrooms.
  • a Web site full of information and resources, in both English and Spanish.
