Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Community Action to Fight Asthma (CAFA)
CAFA was launched in February, 2001, by the California Endowment, to improve the quality of life for school-aged children with asthma.

American Lung Association of California
This organization offers a range of information and services, including statewide support groups and workshops for parents, summer camps for children with asthma, action alerts, and fact sheets. Información en español.

Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Southern California Chapter
This organization provides information on camps and sports events for children with asthma, as well as practical information about asthma and allergies.

California Air Resources Board
This state agency provides data and maps on air quality around the state.

Californians for Pesticide Reform
This is a great source of comprehensive data and maps on pesticide contamination statewide, as well as for information on how to get involved.

Regional Asthma Management and Prevention Initiative (RAMP)
Developed as a model for regional cooperation in dealing with a chronic illness, this initiative serves Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Solano counties. The Web site provides maps, statistics, local environmental information and other resources.

Yes We Can
For health professionals: This is a medical-social team model for prevention-oriented children's asthma care for use at primary care clinics that serve diverse low-income communities.
