A Los Angeles judge today threw out a multi-million dollar civil fraud verdict against the investment firm of Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon's family. In a written ruling, the judge said that evidence does not support the fraud claim. Stephanie O'Neill reports.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon tried repeatedly to change the subject when asked by reporters about his business affairs. At a press club luncheon in Sacramento yesterday, Simon said voters are concerned about other issues. But after reporters refused to drop their questions, Simon repeated his assertion that his company followed the advice of accountants when it used an offshore tax shelter now under investigation by the federal government. Ellen Ciurczak reports from Sacramento.
