Education is still the most important issue on the minds of California voters, but many say the candidates don't seem to know that. With just one week until Election Day, teachers and parents alike say they're wondering when Gray Davis and Bill Simon will put education into their election curriculum. Kathryn Baron reports. A federal judge ordered the release Monday of documents from a decade-old racketeering case in which a convicted felon implicated Governor Gray Davis in a bribery scheme. Carrie Kahn reports.

Governor Davis Hits the Campaign Trail

As part of The California Report's ongoing election coverage, we turn now to the race for Governor&where Bill Simon and Gray Davis have struggled -- and mostly failed -- to excite voters about their candidacies. A new statewide poll this week from the Public Policy Institute of California shows incumbent Democrat Davis with a 10-point lead over his Republican challenger. As the race enters its final laps, the Governor is coming out from behind his television commercials and hitting the campaign trail to rally voters. But as Cy Musiker reports, even some of the governor's supporters are less than enthused about voting for him.
