The world-renowned Paul Taylor Dance Company has set the global standard for contemporary dance excellence. Since the company's founding in 1954, Mr. Taylor has choreographed 136 dances, many of which have attained iconic status and have been celebrated throughout the world. Taylor has achieved countless accolades, including two of our nation's highest artistic distinctions: the Kennedy Center Honors and the National Medal of Arts.
    This episode presents two of Paul Taylor's masterworks. The dances were recorded last year at the Theatre National de Chaillot at the Festival Les Etes de la Danse 2012, where the company - a Paris favorite - dazzled audiences. The engagement in Paris marked The Company's 50th Anniversary of its first appearance there in 1962.

    You Don't Know Jack Soo This program profiles American entertainer Jack Soo, an Oakland native who became the first Asian American to be cast in the lead role in a regular television series Valentine's Day (1963), and later starred in the popular comedy show Barney Miller (1975-1978). The film traces Jack's early beginnings as a nightclub singer and comedian, to his breakthrough role as Sammy Fong in Rogers and Hammerstein's Broadway play and film version of The Flower Drum Song.
    This profile also explores why Soo, a former internee who was actually born Goro Suzuki, was forced to change his name in the post WWII era. Because of his experiences, throughout his career in films and television, Soo refused to play roles that were demeaning to and often spoke out against negative ethnic portrayals. With plenty of clips to showcase his talent, this is a fun program on the "first Asian American hipster."

In addition, if the viewer missed a show, the Thursday and Friday review days bring them up-to-date. At the onset, the program is strictly teaching the "building blocks" of yoga exercise. As the series progresses, the work becomes more demanding.
