Moyers & Company [#220H] Going to Jail for Justice * In December 2008, during the closing weeks of the Bush White House, 27-year-old environmental activist Tim DeChristopher went to protest the auction of gas and oil drilling rights to more than 150,000 acres of publicly-owned Utah wilderness. But instead of yelling slogans or waving a sign, DeChristopher disrupted the proceedings by starting to bid. Given an auction paddle designating him "Bidder 70", DeChristopher won a dozen land leases worth nearly $2 million. He was arrested for criminal fraud, found guilty, and sentenced to two years in federal prison - even though the new Obama Administration had since declared the oil and gas auction null and void.
This week, DeChristopher - who was released less than a month ago - joins Bill to talk about the necessity of civil disobedience in the fight for justice, how his jury was ordered to place the strict letter of the law over moral conscience, and the future of the environmental movement. Bidder 70, a new documentary chronicling DeChristopher's legal battle and activism, opened May 17. DeChristopher is co-founder of the grassroots environmental group Peaceful Uprising.
    * Also on the show, Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Gretchen Morgenson tells Bill that, 5 years after the country's economic near-collapse, banks are still too big to fail, too big to manage, and too big to trust. Stockholders' reaffirmation of Jamie Dimon as JP Morgan Chase's chairman and CEO this week - despite a year of accusations and investigations at the bank - is further evidence, she says, of an unchecked system that continues to covet profits and eschew accountability, putting our economy and democracy at risk. Morgenson also discusses how behemoth companies like Apple manipulate the system and avail themselves of the biggest tax loopholes money and influence can buy.

Unforgettable: The Korean War A powerful journey with a diverse group of Korean War veterans as they recall their memories and emotions of the war and of America in the late 1940s and early 1950s, when young men from all over the country were being shipped off to defend South Korea against the advancing Red Army. This film brings back memories of the un-won war that never ended - no one even wanted to declare it a war: it was the "Korean conflict," a "police action" and finally, "the forgotten war. " No matter the name, the Korean War was still a very fatal war, killing tens of thousands of US soldiers and affecting many more lives at home. duration 56:46   STEREO TVPG

The itch drives everyone wild with itchiness, including the lion cubs who can't stop scratching themselves. Martin, Chris and Zoboo catalogue the various things that make creatures itchy, like fleas and poison ivy, and try all the known itch remedies: scratching like mad, mud, dust and water baths. It's no use, they can't shake "the itch." Not even a new Kratt contraption, the Scratching Machine, can tackle this mighty itch. Sometimes you have an itch, you don't know why and no matter what you do, you can't get rid of it. Jackie's busy picking burrs out of her dog's fur. They went for a walk in the woods, which was a lot of fun, but Goldie came back full of itchy burrs, which is no fun at all. Each time, Big Bird, feeling rejected, asks Abby to cast a spell to change his appearance in hopes of being accepted into the club. Abby and Elmo attempt to convince Big Bird that he is perfect the way he is, but he is determined to alter his physical attributes. Abby, reluctantly, makes Big Bird's feet smaller, turns him into half of his original size, and eventually turns his feathers blue. Abby realizes that the president of the club is bullying Big Bird so she reports what is going on to an adult. Elmo worries they will be tattling, but they find Chris who explains that they are reporting, not tattling. Reporting is telling a grownup when someone's getting hurt or is in trouble. He explains that it is important to turn to a grownup when someone is being bullied. Chris finds Big Bird and tells him he shouldn't have to change to join a club and that he is wonderful just the way he is. Big Bird admits he likes the way he is and wants to be changed back to being himself. Chris, Abby, Elmo, and Bird start their own club; a club where no one is bullied and everyone is accepted for who they are.
