Archaeologist Dr. Ruben Mendoza gives us a special tour of the "Mission of Music" that includes the River of Life and just a touch of Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Illumination.
    * Luis Valdez, playwright/film director - The famed writer currently lives in San Juan Batista and has been assisting the local high school Theatre Arts programs. Luis Valdez was the founder of El Teatro Campesino in California and is thought to be the father of Mexican American Theater. Valdez was born in San Francisco and attended San Jose State where his play "The Shrunken Head of Pancho Villa" was staged in 1964. In 1978 his play, Zoot Suit, an account of racism in 1940s Los Angeles, was the first Hispanic American play to reach Broadway. He followed the landmark show with the popular 1987 film La Bamba, which launched the screen career of Lou Diamond Phillips.
    * Greg Smesstad, 8th generation Californian - Greg Smesstad is a descendent of the Bernal family, one of 30 families who came from Mexico with Spanish Captain Juan Bautista de Anza in 1775. Smesstad has written the book on the de Anza Trail, a National Parks Historic Trail, for the Park Service. In it he documents the history of the first 30 families in California. The Bernal family helped to found San Jose.

    Sesame Street [#4271H] Cast Iron Cooks As Alan finishes packing Elmo's lunch, the lights go down, the music goes up, and Superchef pops up and announces that Alan has been chosen as the next challenger on Cast Iron Cooks. Alan is not even sure what that is, but Chris and Elmo are excited to be his assistants. The first challenge is to prepare a bowl of P Stew, which is made up entirely of ingredients that begin with the letter P. Elmo, Chris, and Alan race around throwing P foods like pickles, peaches, and porridge into a pot. When time is up, Superchef samples their stew, which is horrible. Then he tries the Cast Iron Cooks' stew, which is delicious. But just before Superchef awards the first round to the Cast Iron Cooks', Chris finds a hat in the Cast Iron Cooks' stew, and because hat starts with the letter "h", the points go to Alan. The second challenge is to make an apple pie using exactly 8 apples. Elmo, Alan, and Chris race around looking for apples, and once they find them, Chris accidently adds pepper along with the sugar and cinnamon. The buzzer sounds, and again, Superchef tastes their creations. Alan's pie is horrible. The Cast Iron Cooks', of course, have a delicious pie? but a pair of eyeglasses has been baked into it. So round two goes to Alan! The final challenge is to make a Halfgarian Goulash, which is made up of ingredients cut precisely in half. The buzzer sounds, and the Superchef tastes Alan's goulash and finds it disgusting. The Cast Iron Cooks' goulash is spectacular, with the exception of a wristwatch, which was not cut in half.     WordWorld [#121H] Bit By Bit/Ride 'em Cowbear * Bit by Bit: It is Monkey's birthday, and a sick Frog entrusts Duck and Bug to take his present-a banana-to Monkey's birthday party for him. In their enthusiasm to get to the party, Duck and Bug accidentally break the banana into letters...and they don't know how to rebuild it! It's just too big a word. Fortunately Elephant knows a thing or two about big words, and teaches them to build the banana back, bit by bit, based on the three syllables in the word.
    * Ride 'em CowBear: Pig, Dog and Duck are playing cowboys. Bear wants to join them, but gets frustrated when she learns she's not very good at rope tricks. Dog went let her sulk, though, and after much practice Bear is a rootin'-tootin' CowBear! And just in time-Pig and Duck have herded Cow into the mud!

Caillou is very excited about the neighborhood rummage sale until he's asked to figure out what he'd like to contribute. He's not so sure he wants to part with any of his toys. But in the end he's pretty happy with the new stuff he comes home with. When Caillou's brand new T-shirt is ruined by grape juice Grandma diverts disaster by recycling it and turning into a one-of-a-kind shirt that is tie-dyed with grape-juice star bursts. Caillou helps Mommy clean out the attic when they come across an old chest, and discover neat treasures inside. Caillou and Mom go to the library for story time. Caillou has scribbled on one of the books he borrowed, and is afraid to bring it back. Clementine's Mom who is in charge of story time cleans the book. While searching for the boat, Steve and George learn that debris from the street ends up in the ocean. Will they ever find Steve's little boat in the big ocean or will he be taking history again next year? Educational Objective: To recognize that waste needs to be disposed of properly to prevent unnecessary harm to the environment. To learn about a manmade system designed to reduce man's impact on the environment by working to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
    * Windmill Monkey - George proudly finishes planting his rooftop garden when he turns around to find that Compass and his friends have eaten all the seeds. The scarecrow overlooking the garden didn't scare them at all! While buying more seeds, George spots a windmill and learns how the wind can power just about anything. The inspired monkey sets out to create the world's first wind powered scarecrow in hopes that will keep his seeds safe. But some things are more easily planned than done! Educational Objective: To recognize wind as an alternative and renewable source of energy capable of doing work.

    * Slow Down for Sloths - Nick and Sally are trying to draw a picture of a butterfly but can't get close enough to see it. Cat takes them to meet Onslow the Sloth, who teaches the kids that when you slow down, the world comes to you. After lots of practice (and a race to see who's the slowest!), Nick and Sally are now able to get closer to the butterfly and finish their picture!

Charley learns that there are some responsibilities kids should not attempt to shoulder without the help of an adult.

Telly and Elmo come bounding in loudly trying to offer their help, but Leela insists that she doesn't need any assistance. She's hoping Nila will stay asleep as long as there aren't any loud noises on Sesame Street. Elmo and Telly decide to become the Noise Patrol and keep loud noises away from Nila! They try to use different tools such as binoculars and a megaphone, but Leela explains that the only tools they need are their ears! Elmo and Telly hear sounds coming from animals playing basketball. Luckily, the animals agree to go to the park to play. Next, Elmo and Telly hear Grover blasting a boombox as he breakdances! After a dance-off and a mishap with the controls, Grover realizes that he can't play loud music around a sleeping baby and leaves after putting on his headphones. Next, Elmo and Telly hear hammering from a construction worker who thankfully agrees to leave for lunch. Just when the Noise Patrol is finally enjoying the quiet, Nila wakes up! Leela explains that they actually don't need to be completely quiet. Nila can listen to Leela as she sings her a lullaby. When an invitation for Clementine's party accidentally ends up at Sarah's, Caillou learns the differences between the addresses of the two homes. Later, when Clementine tells Caillou how much she likes her older brother, Billy, to teach her things, Caillou sets out to teach something to Rosie. But this proves harder than Caillou thought, until Mom suggests he try the A-B-C song! Also, when Caillou's dawdling causes he, Mom and Rosie to be late going to the park, they end up missing Leo. I Love You, Mom - Daniel wants to surprise Mom Tiger with her favorite banana bread because he knows it is one way to say "I love you." Dad and Daniel head to Baker Aker's Bakery, where they learn about the bread-making process.     Thomas & Friends [#314] Feelings Sir Topham Hatt needs an engine for a railway poster. Edward is to be the poster engine, but James is sure that it should be him! When James hears that Edward was chosen for being on time, gentle with his trucks and always ready to do dirty jobs, James decides to prove that he can do all those things. James' plan doesn't quite work - he gets so dirty that its takes too long to get clean and James is soon running late for his passengers. He tries to beat Edward to the passengers, but doesn't see the signal. Edward crashes into the back of James and sends him hurtling through the railway poster - right where Edward's face should be. Edward is damaged and can't take passengers but the children still want to ride on the poster engine. James is sorry and offers to help Edward carry the children - and together they prove to be really useful. Thomas has a delivery to make at the Wharf. On the way he marvels at how beautiful the Island of Sodor is. At the Wharf he hears that Skarloey needs to be taken to the menders on the other side of the island. Thomas offers to take him. Skarloey is lowered on to a flat bed and coupled to Thomas. Sir Topham Hatt tells Thomas to head straight for the menders and to be careful of the coupling. Thomas decides to cheer up sad Skarloey by showing him the sights of Sodor. But none of the sights impress the little engine. Thomas decides to chuff to the top of Gordon's Hill, but the coupling snaps and Skarloey hurtles to the bottom and right off the track! Thomas is very sorry. With Skarloey back on the track they set straight off for the menders. This time they go past the seaside - a sight that Skarloey has never seen before! Skarloey is very impressed. Nick and Sally soon learn that a drop of water holds a whole lot more than they ever realized!
    * I See Seeds - Sally and Nick are going on an adventure, but how are they going to get there? Skateboard? Train? Rocketship? They just can't decide, until Cat suggests they see how trees send their seeds on trips. They follow different seeds as they travel through the air, float on the water and hitch rides on animals.
