    * Luis Valdez, playwright/film director - The famed writer currently lives in San Juan Batista and has been assisting the local high school Theatre Arts programs. Luis Valdez was the founder of El Teatro Campesino in California and is thought to be the father of Mexican American Theater. Valdez was born in San Francisco and attended San Jose State where his play "The Shrunken Head of Pancho Villa" was staged in 1964. In 1978 his play, Zoot Suit, an account of racism in 1940s Los Angeles, was the first Hispanic American play to reach Broadway. He followed the landmark show with the popular 1987 film La Bamba, which launched the screen career of Lou Diamond Phillips.
    * Greg Smesstad, 8th generation Californian - Greg Smesstad is a descendent of the Bernal family, one of 30 families who came from Mexico with Spanish Captain Juan Bautista de Anza in 1775. Smesstad has written the book on the de Anza Trail, a National Parks Historic Trail, for the Park Service. In it he documents the history of the first 30 families in California. The Bernal family helped to found San Jose.

Valerie's decision to set aside her Ph.D shows the Roadtrippers that it's never too late to alter your course. Later, the team heads to Facebook headquarters to meet with Delfina Eberly, the Director of Data Operations, who, as a confident Hispanic woman overseeing a mostly-male staff, inspires Jackie. Later, the team takes a zip-line adventure through Redwoods guided by Suzy Clark, the Director of the Mount Hermon Outdoor Science School.     Sesame Street [#4325H] Porridge Art Baby Bear is excited to learn that his favorite porridge brand "Quaker Porridge" is holding a Porridge Art Contest, where contestants create edible art of the Quaker Duck Man that's made of porridge. Alan mixes up a batch of porridge, Baby Bear runs off to get is art supplies, and Telly volunteers to pose as the Quaker Duck Man. First, Baby Bear gets inspiration to paint with porridge, but when the picture is placed upright on the easel, the mushy porridge slides right off the canvas. Baby Bear needs some brain food to help him figure out what to do next and returns to eating his porridge which is now thick and pasty. Alan explains that's what happens to porridge when it's left out too long. Baby Bear is inspired again! This time he sticks nuts and berries to the thick porridge to create a mosaic picture. But when everyone is distracted, animals come over and eat Baby Bear's art. Alan reassures him that they can try something else and just then, Baby Bear is inspired once more. He decides to cover Telly with the thick porridge, creating a statue. Alan explains that this is cheating and Baby Bear understands. He tries to take the porridge off of Telly, but it stiffens even more. Alan tells Baby Bear that the longer porridge is left out, the drier and harder it becomes, just like his breakfast did. One last inspiration! Baby Bear makes his own sculpture out of porridge, and he wins the contest!     Sesame Street [#4319H] The Best House of the Year Elmo is outside roller skating when he and Leela hear construction noises. They investigate and come across the Three Little Pigs building a brick house to enter the "Best House of the Year" contest. It is a contest to find the strongest, prettiest, bestest house. They call for the judge of the contest, Mr. Bill Ding, to inspect their house. Just as he's about to announce that it is the best house of the year, in pops the Big Bad Wolf claiming that he'll be able to blow the house down. No one thinks that he will be able to do it because brick is a strong building material, but the Big Bad Wolf has been working out. With one big huff and puff, he blows the house down and blows Elmo away on his skates. The Three Little Pigs do not give up and try to think of a building material that is stronger than brick. First they try building their house out of rock and then out of metal, but the Big Bad Wolf is able to use enough force to blow down both houses! The Three Little Pigs are about to give up, but Leela thinks that "stronger" isn't what they need. What they do need is an innovation, something completely new and different. Elmo has an idea for an innovation. He explains that every time a house blew down, he didn't blow down but was blown away because of his skates. So the Little Pigs build their house on wheels and call for Mr. Ding one last time. In comes Big Bad too, but after a couple of big huffs and puffs, he is not able to blow the house down, because it rolls away. When Barney tells her all about the fun they will have, Melanie decides to give it a try. What could be better than sharing her very first campout with her friends and Barney?

' Caillou Tries to Whistle: Clementine can whistle, and Caillou can't! Caillou tries his best to learn and practices every where he goes... but he just can't seem to get the hang of it and this embarrasses him. Mommy and Daddy reassure him this skill will come with time, but Caillou feels much better when he realizes there are things he can do that Clementine can't do - like wiggling his ears! However, when Thomas hurtles towards some cows, which have wandered onto the tracks, Toby is forced to use his bell. Toby realizes that his bell is not that scary, in fact it makes a great noise. So, when Gordon races towards a fallen tree, Toby is happy to blow his whistle and save Gordon too. At Knapford Station, Hiro sees that Sir Topham Hatt is very busy. Sir Topham Hatt is in a rush to see his brother. He appears without his hat and even knocks into a porter! Edward puffs in. He needs instructions from Sir Topham Hatt for the visitors he has. Hiro decides he will help Sir Topham Hatt, by making decisions for him, in his absence! Hiro tells Edward to take the visitors to the Hills, tells Thomas to take time to visit Farmer Trotter and the piglets and then tells Percy to take his flatbed of ducks to the Fenland for a swim! Hiro feels delighted with his work until Sir Topham Hatt meets him. The visitors are late, Farmer McColl wants his ducks and where is Thomas and his crates!? Sir Topham Hatt is never too busy for engine business. Hiro is mortified. He chuffs off fast to tell Edward, Thomas and Percy to complete their tasks quickly. Fish tells them it's because it's made from rubber, and rubber comes from trees. Cat doesn't believe him so it's time to ask the expert, Dr. Twiggles! It turns out Fish is right! And Dr. Twiggles shows them all just how rubber is made, and all the wonderful things rubber can make
    * Timmy Tippy Toe - Nick and Sally are playing on a climbing frame but just can't manage to get to the top. Cat tries to show them how it's done but he can't do it either! Time to go see Timmy Tippy Toe, the Klipspringer who is an expert climber! Timmy teaches them to use their hands and their feet, and now they can reach the top of their own "mountain"!

    Zoboomafoo [#140] Bzzz Animal Junction goes buggy, and Zoboo, Chris and Martin start to think that these tiny critters are nature's little superstars. Insects and spiders are amazing athletes: quick-leaping grasshoppers, far-flying butterflies, super-strong ants, heavily armored beetles and plenty more. Bugs have to be quick because lots of other creatures like to eat them. But if bugs disappeared, a lot of other creatures would disappear too. That's why the Kratts always say, "Be nice to bugs." Chris and Martin get a bug's eye perspective when they shrink down to insect size and find out that it's no picnic being an ant. The conservation movement, after failing to stop the Hetch Hetchy dam, pushes the government to establish one unified agency to oversee all the parks, leading to the establishment of the National Park Service in 1916. Its first director, Stephen Mather, a wealthy businessman and passionate park advocate who fought vigorously to establish the NPS, launches an energetic campaign to expand the national park system and bring more visitors to the parks.
