    • Mon 5/06: very brief KQED DT9 OTA outage

      (DT9.1, 9.2, 9.3) This morning we had a very brief outage of our over the air (OTA) coverage for KQED 9.1/9.2/9.3, which lasted apx 4 minutes. Most tuners will have found the channel again as soon as service was restored, but some may need to be rescanned for channel 9. This outage did not affect [...]

    • Mon 4/22: KQEH OTA signal back on air

      (DT54.1 through DT54.5) The Over the Air (OTA) signal from our KQEH transmitter on Monument Peak was restored at apx 6:35pm this evening. Most tuners should automatically find the signal, however some OTA viewers may need to do a rescan to restore reception.

    • Mon 4/22: KQEH OTA planned overnight outage extended

      Unexpected technical problems have been discovered at the KQEH transmitter site during planned maintenance overnight.  KQED crews have identified the problem and are working to correct it as soon as possible. Please check back to this blog for status updates. Service to Comcast and other providers are uninterrupted.

    Doc Martin [#505(] Remember Me P.C. Joe Penhale (John Marquez) has an unexpected visitor - his ex-wife Maggie (Julie Graham). She appears to have completely forgotten that they split up a couple of years ago. When he tries to tell her they are no longer married she accuses him of over-reacting, and wants to know why he packed his bags and left her. Joe struggles with a mixture of distress and elation at seeing Maggie again. He has thought about her every day since they parted. He realizes she is clearly not well, and tries discreetly to ask Dr. Ellingham about her symptoms without telling him that he is talking about his ex-wife. Meanwhile, Martin and Louisa's baby still doesn't have a name, and P. C. Penhale warns them that time is running out. If they don't register a name for the baby soon the State will step in and name the baby. After protracted discussions the couple finally reaches an agreement. duration 46:05   STEREO TVPG

    Doc Martin [#506Z] Don't Let Go P.C. Joe Penhale is desperate to keep Maggie and show her he's changed; that he's the macho husband she wants. But Maggie plans to return to Bude. Penhale resorts to desperate measures to convince her to stay, including surreptitiously paying people to be nasty to her so he can step in and assert his authority, and show her he can be tough. Aunt Ruth uncovers a chest of family heirlooms when she clears out a barn at the farm, including photos as Martin as a six-year-old schoolboy. The photos bring back poignant memories of an unhappy childhood for Martin and it prompts him to think of registering their son for boarding school. But Louisa is horrified at the thought of sending him miles away to school. Tension is mounting between Louisa and Martin. They can't seem to agree on anything. The final straw for Louisa comes when she discovers Martin has set a date for their baby's christening without even consulting her. Louisa decides she has had enough.     Doc Martin [#507Z] Cats and Sharks Bert Large's restaurant business is in financial trouble. He can't even afford the food and drink for a charity event to raise money for Florence Dingle's (Anne Reid) cat sanctuary. Mrs. Dingle is distraught. She desperately needs the money to continue to look after the cats and kittens in her care. Eleanor comes to Bert's rescue with a plan to boost business at the restaurant, suggesting they have a Spanish theme night to attract customers. She rolls up her sleeves and begins preparing for the Spanish feast. But she begins to feel very ill and Louisa insists she must see the doc. Morwenna calls an ambulance, but the Doc decides there is no alternative: he must operate now on Eleanor in his surgery or she could die. Dr. Martin Ellingham is planning to leave Portwenn in a week's time to resume his career as a surgeon, leaving Louisa and the baby in the village. Her husband Clive (Malcolm Storry) arrives back unexpectedly from his work on the oil rigs announcing his intention to retire so they can spend more time together. It's now or never for Mrs. Tishell to make her romantic notions of a relationship with the doc come true.     Zoboomafoo [#121] Giants When three capybaras arrive for a visit, Zoboo's amazed to find out that these water creatures are giant rodents. They are not as large as a rhinoceros or an elephant, but compared to any rodent, a capybara comes off looking mighty huge. A moose is the biggest member of the deer family, indri's the largest lemur, a Siberian tiger's the biggest cat, and Martin's the biggest Kratt. The world is full of giants, great and small. Jackie and the Animal Helpers plant a tree in Jackie's backyard.     Thomas & Friends [#805H] Fun in the Snow Let it Snow - Gordon and Thomas go to Misty Island to collect logs for Farmer McColl's animal shelter. The Logging Locos tell them that there is no snow on Misty Island because they haven't chuffed The Misty Island Snow Song. They need to puff to the top of a hill and stay still, then go to the sea and wait patiently - then snow will appear! Gordon doesn't believe that snow will appear but Thomas begins to race to the top of the hill and to the sea as the snow song says. THOMAS doesn't take care of his job to take the logs to Farmer McColl's and the snow doesn't appear. When Thomas is really useful and gathers all the logs for Farmer McColl, the snow starts to fall. Gordon and Thomas sing the snow song together and happily head back to help Farmer McColl. Percy the Snowman - Thomas is asked to take Sir Topham Hatt to switch on the Christmas tree lights in the Town Square. Thomas is excited to see Percy, but Percy is feeling sad because he doesn't have a special so Thomas asks Percy to go with him to collect Sir Topham Hatt. Thomas asks Percy to wait in a siding while he rushes to get his jobs finished. Thomas races so fast that he doesn't realize he covers Percy with snow every time he rushes past. Percy is so covered in snow that Thomas can't find him. Thomas finds Percy under the snow but Percy's firebox has gone out. Now Percy won't be able to go to see the Christmas lights and he is sad.     Sesame Street [#4299H] Squirmadega Car Race Slimey is practicing for the Squirmadega Car Race. He zooms forward, backward, and around and around on the counter of Mr. Hopper's store. Elmo excitedly gets ready to watch Slimey in the worm car race. Elmo is Slimey's biggest fan and cheerleader! The worms' race cars line up as the sportscaster, Jeff Gordon, introduces the five race car drivers. Elmo cheers! Jeff Gordon discusses the race course. The worms must drive over the laundry basket, under the table and around the fire hydrant to win the race. The worms start their engines and take off! Cars #1, #2, and #3 lose control and are quickly out of the race, but Shawna Wiggleson in Car #4 and Slimey in Car #5 are still going. It's a close race! Slimey approaches the finishing line, but gets caught in Big Bird's toes. Shawna pulls ahead and wins! Elmo is very sad and disappointed. He wanted Slimey to win and thinks Slimey's sad because he lost the race. But Slimey is happy; he loves racing whether he wins or loses and he loves to practice, too. He finally does win a ribbon in the straight face contest!
    * Stronger Every Day - When a new, longer set of monkey bars is installed at the park, Caillou is disappointed that he can't climb as far as Leo. He asks his Daddy how he can get bigger and stronger and finds out that eating right, exercising and getting lots of sleep is the best way. Later, when Clementine and Billy join them Caillou finds he can lift up Billy's bike. He couldn't do that last year! Caillou realizes he's getting stronger every day!
    * No More Training Wheels - With training wheels on his bike, Caillou is having trouble keeping up with Sarah. After imagining himself riding in a real grownup bike race Caillou decides he's ready to try riding without his training wheels. It proves to be harder than he thought, however, and he quits in frustration. Daddy explains it's okay to wait until he's really ready. He goes back to his training wheels and the next day Sarah shows up on her new roller blades - now she's travelling at his speed.

The Man and George follow their map precisely, but how can they compete with the Quint's computerized navigation device, Bill's system of leaving a trail of corn, and Sprint's speedy disposition? It's not until George gets a bird's eye view of the maze that he is able to line up the landmarks on the map and figure out where to go. But when Leslie the cow eats their map, they need to figure out a more creative way to get to the finish line!
    * The Color of Monkey - After a bubble bath, George promises the Man with the Yellow Hat that he will stay clean until their picture is taken for the cover of Bird Watchers Magazine. But when George helps Steve and Betsy dye eggs, he falls into a pot of food coloring, and turns completely yellow! Trying to keep his pledge of staying clean, he experiments with the different dye colors to see which ones he can mix with yellow to turn him brown again. In the process, George turns himself orange, Charkie turns blue, and Compass turns red! Can George figure out how to get back to his original color, or will the bird watchers return to find a rainbow colored monkey?

    Sesame Street [#4282H] Elmo Wants to Have A Ball Elmo's daddy has given him a dollar and he is not sure what to buy. He sees lots of things that are interesting, but decides that he wants a Stupendous Ball. The only problem is that it costs five dollars. He asks Luis how people get money, and Luis explains that people usually work to get money. Elmo wonders where he can work, and Luis offers him a job helping him fix the ice cream maker. Elmo does, and Luis gives him one dollar. Elmo now has 2 dollars, but it's still not enough for the Stupendous Ball. Luis tells him he just needs to save some more money, and he can do that by putting his money in a piggy bank. Luis quickly makes him one out of a jar, and Elmo puts his money in it. Elmo earns another dollar helping Leela fold clothes, and another one returning empty bottles to Hooper's Store. Elmo is careful not to spend any of his four dollars and saves them instead. Then he gets a card from his nana with one dollar in it, and finally, after waiting and working and saving, he has five dollars! Just as he is about to pay for his Stupendous Ball, Cookie Monster come by and is very sad that he has no money to buy cookies. Elmo gives him one of his dollars and tells Luis that he will just save a little longer. But then he sees the Fantastic Ball, which is green and makes a cool sound and only costs four dollars, exactly how much Elmo has.     Caillou [#305] Caillou The Brave * Caillou and the Big Slide - The playschool is going swimming, and it's Caillou's very first time on a water slide, but he's a little nervous and doesn't want to slide down it. Miss Martin tells him it's natural to be afraid of things the first time you try them - why, she was afraid of the swings when she was a little girl. Caillou musters up his courage and, pretending he's a brave mountain climber, he climbs up the ladder and slides down, discovering how fun water slides really are!
    * Caillou the Sailor - Mommy and Daddy are going out to a party and Caillou is excited to hear that Grandpa is coming to babysit. When Grandpa arrives he brings a couple of surprises - a book about sailing ships and a real telescope. Caillou learns all about the old ships and how to salute when you say 'Aye aye Captain!' When a thunderstorm starts to rage outside Caillou is a little scared, until he pretends he's a very brave sea captain who's not afraid of storms!
    * Creepy Crawlies! - Rosie doesn't like bugs - she thinks they're icky! Caillou on the other hand loves bugs since he learned all about them at playschool. He decides to teach his little sister about all the different kinds of insects in their backyard. Thanks to Caillou's stories and drawings, Rosie soon likes bugs too, almost as much as Caillou does.

    Thomas & Friends [#806H] Helping Each Other Stop that Bus! - Thomas feels bad that Bertie doesn't get to travel on the rails so he decides to take Bertie on a tour of Sodor by rail. Bertie rolls onto Thomas' flatbed and soon they're off on their adventure. Bertie loves the sights but he needs to go and collect Dowager Hatt and her friends. Thomas is having such a good time that he doesn't listen to Bertie. Chaos ensues as the flatbed rolls away from Thomas and Bertie is stuck on it in the middle of the Shake Shake Bridge. Thomas chuffs away fast to ask Harold to rescue Bertie. Thomas then collects Dowager and her friends and brings them to meet Bertie at the Shake Shake Bridge. Dowager and her friends jump into the back of Bertie and the flatbed is re-attached to Thomas and they race through the countryside. Spencer The Grand - It is a very foggy day on Sodor. All the engines are asked to stay at Tidmouth Sheds by Sir Topham Hatt. Spencer wants to get back to the Duke and Duchess' Summer House instead. Spencer can't find his way in the fog and arrives at Mavis' Quarry and Whiff's Waste Dump rather than at the Summer House. Just as Spencer thinks he has arrived at the Summer House, he realizes he is back at Tidmouth Sheds. Thomas and the engines are kind to him and he realizes he has been a silly engine. Now it is Spencer's turn to be kind and he goes to find Percy who is still lost in the fog.     Magic Moments - The Best of 50's Pop (My Music #102) Take a stroll down memory lane with the pop sounds of this concert special. This reunion brings together the greatest recording artists from the 50s pop era. Taped in Atlantic City's Trump Taj Mahal, it is hosted by Mary Lou Metzger, Phyllis McGuire and Pat Boone, and features a cavalcade of 1950s pop music recording legends, reuniting and performing their biggest hits. The McGuire Sisters (who reunite for the first time since 1967), Debbie Reynolds, Patti Page, the Chordettes, the Crew Cuts, the Four Lads, the Four Aces, the Four Coins, Don Cherry, Gogi Grant and more take the stage and share the good times.
    This nostalgia-fest features a mix of new performances and short archival footage transitions of the fads, fashions, news stories and pop cultural events of the 50s decade. Tribute montages also highlight the superstar 50s pop icons who have died in recent years (Dean Martin, Perry Como, Rosemary Clooney, Johnny Ray and more). Special guest presenters include Wink Martindale, Rip Taylor, Brett Somers, Dr. Joyce Brothers, Nick Clooney, Fess parker and Joni James.
