While his songs have been recorded by music legends such as Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and Chet Baker, he is best known for his own performances with The Attractions (with whom he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003) and The Imposters. His new album, National Ransom, was released November 2. On the evening of November 2, Elvis Costello gave a private concert for five hundred lucky fans in celebration of his new album's release that day. Within the ornate and awe-inspiring Celeste Bartos Forum in The New York Public Library's world-famous Stephen A.     Thomas & Friends [#403] The Unexpected Thomas must fill coal trucks in time for James and Edward to collect them. At the coaling plant, he encounters a big grumpy truck called 'Hector the Horrid'. Thomas tries to approach Hector but Hector roars at him to leave him alone. Thomas puffs quickly away. There's a lot to do and Rosie arrives to help. Rose tries to approach Hector the Horrid but again Hector roars and scares Rosie away. Thomas decides that he's had enough. He biffs Hector hard and sends him flying off the track. Hector reveals that he only roars because he's scared. He's never been filled with coal before. Thomas helps Hector and shows him that being filled with coal can be fun! Thomas and Hector (the not-so-Horrid) shunt the coal trucks in time for James and Edward to collect them. Gordon must take an important engineer to repair some points. He picks up the wrong person at the station and steams off to the points refusing to stop for any other engines. When Gordon realizes his mistake he feels very silly, but he can't head back to collect the engineer as the lines are blocked. Gordon has an idea. He asks all the engines to ferry the engineer up the line, engine-by-engine. Soon the points are repaired and the engines are on their way.     Sesame Street [#4259H] The Bubblefest It's Bubblefest on Sesame Street and Alan and Chris are the leaders of the festivities. Telly is excited since he has never blown a bubble before. Everyone starts blowing bubbles but when Telly gives it a try, he blows way too hard and is unable to make a bubble. At this time, Alan and Chris announce that it is time for a Bubble Mix Mystery, which is figuring out how to make the perfect bubble mix. Alan and Chris explain that there are three different ingredients in the bubble mixture (water, soap, and corn syrup). Elmo and Abby have to figure out how much of each ingredient to mix together. They can use a large cup, medium cup, or small cup to measure the amount of each ingredient. After testing the mixtures, Abby and Elmo determine that the mystery mixture consists of water in the largest measuring cup, soap in the medium measuring cup, and corn syrup in the smallest measuring cup. Now, they must solve r a Bubblefest riddle: "What's round and wet, is something that you blow, and has all the colors of the rainbow?" After talking it through, Elmo and Abby figure out that it's bubbles! Alan and Chris demonstrate that bubbles are iridescent and are all colors of the rainbow. Afterwards,Alan and Chris announce a Bubblefest Pop Quiz. They place all kinds of items on a table and Elmo and Abby must figure out which ones they can use to blow bubbles with. For the Bubblefest Finale, Abby and Elmo use a hula hoop to create a bubble using so big, a child can fit inside!?? And Telly finally blows a bubble, too. They find animal tracks on the ground, but when Telly tosses his lasso around an animal, it's a chicken, not a cow! Luis gives them another clue and sings about tracks that are kind of round. Telly and Elmo come across round animal tracks and are certain they found the cow! Telly tosses the lasso around an animal but this time it's a raccoon. Luis comes along again and gives them another musical cow clue- animal tracks that are in the shape of two half moons. They find tracks that are kind of round and look like two half moons, but the tracks are from a moose, not a cow! Telly becomes discouraged. Elmo reminds Telly they can't give up. Instead, they should use the clues they already have and put them all together. Elmo realizes that they have to find animal tracks that look like the moose tracks, only smaller! This time, they follow animal tracks that lead to a door. They open the door and there is the cow! Yee-haw! Little Bo Peep thanks the Cowmonster Pair for finding her cow. Also today, Caillou goes to the swimming pool where Daddy teaches Caillou how to swim. After a few lessons, Caillou gets better and better and soon he can swim on his own. Then, Caillou discovers baseball for the first time. He wants to play and patiently Dad works at teaching him. Caillou is all ready to throw in the towel as each toss passes him by, but when he sees Sarah and Billy really doing it he gets an opportunity to practice what he's learned.     Thomas & Friends [#404] Believing Percy breaks down when delivering the mail at night. While Thomas is pushing him back to the sheds, Percy sees some flashing lights in the sky and is convinced they are a spaceship. Gordon teases Percy, so when Thomas is sent to deliver the mail for Percy he becomes determined to prove his friend was right. Thomas spots some lights in the distance but they turn out to be workmen repairing the track. He spots some more lights, but they turn out to be the lighthouse. A third set of lights turns out to be Jeremy! Thomas realizes that Percy must have seen Jeremy landing at the airport! Searching for the spaceship makes Thomas late. Back at the sheds, he explains the truth about the lights to Gordon. And even though Thomas felt silly, he asks Gordon to help deliver the mail on time. Gordon is pleased to help and Percy decides that Jeremy is better than any spaceship! A successful day of deliveries in the snow convinces Henry that he has lucky trucks. The next day, without realizing, Edward uses Henry's trucks to take coal to the villages. Henry is given an important special - to collect presents for the children. Henry tries but finds his job difficult without his lucky trucks. Henry searches for Edward and the lucky trucks - but when he finds him Henry accidentally smashes the lucky trucks! Henry remembers the presents for the children he stops thinking about the trucks and puffs on without them. Soon Henry delivers all the presents. Dr. Cordova uses a video connection so we can meet a real wildlife biologist studying pandas at the San Diego Zoo! This leads the rest of the kids to ask about science fields they're interested in.     Moyers & Company [#112H] Standing Up for Democracy American history is rich with stories of social change inspired by the actions of motivated individuals and organized groups. Today's activists are no different - facing long odds against powerful and systemic special interests. This weekend, Bill Moyers talks with young but very experienced organizers George Goehl, Ai-Jen Poo, and Sarita Gupta - all involved with a nationwide citizens' initiative called the 99% Spring, which takes place the week of April 9th. Organizers aim to train 100,000 Americans to teach about income inequality in homes, places of worship, campuses and the streets.
    A 99% Spring co-organizer, George Goehl is executive director of National People's Action, a network of grassroots organizations using direct action to battle economic and racial injustice. Ai-Jen Poo, director and co-founder of the 10,000-member National Domestic Workers Alliance, led the fight for passage of The Domestic Worker's Bill of Rights in New York State, the first of its kind in America. Sarita Gupta is executive director of Jobs with Justice, a labor organization in 46 cities and 26 states working to create a broad, global movement for economic and social justice. Poo and Gupta are also participating in an economic campaign for domestic and homecare workers of all ages called Caring Across Generations.
    Moyers concludes the broadcast with an essay on what citizens can do to find out who's paying for all those political ads running on their local television stations.
