Ready Jet Go! [#123H] Diggin' Earth/Mindy's Mystery "Diggin' Earth" - The kids try to dig into the Center of the Earth (a la Commander Cressida), but after finding out that the center is much too hot and the layer of Earth leading up to it is solid rock, they re-vamp their plans. They decide to become the kids to dig down the deepest into the Earth. Learning about the layers of the Earth inspires Jet to make an Earth Layer Cake. Curriculum: Earth's structure consists of molten nickel-iron core, magma mantle, and crust. The reason we can't easily dig down through to the core is because the Earth's crust is 10-30 miles thick! And made of really hard rock. Inside of that is the mantle. The core is nickel and iron, the heaviest stuff, which gravity pulls to the center. In fact, it gets so hot in the core that even the nickel and iron melt. "Mindy's Mystery" - Mindy can't sleep one night, having been kept awake by a sweet, strong smell from outside. Sydney, Sean, Jet, and Sunspot become detectives and try to crack the case of the sweet smell. At the same time, Mitchell is investigating what kept him up last night - a very bright "annoying" light. In the end, there's a common source - the sweet smell was from a nocturnal flower, the Moonflower, which only blooms at night, after sundown. And the bright light was from the Moon! Curriculum: Moonflowers are nocturnal bloomers. After sunset as the Moon rises, these huge white flowers bloom, emit a very sweet smell, and glow in the moonlight. In the morning, they close their fragrant blooms. Moonflowers' scent attracts the night moths that feed on their nectar. Moonlight doesn't originate on the Moon. The Moon (like the planets) shines by reflected Sunlight. The Sun, of course, only lights up 1/2 of the Moon - the half that is facing the Sun. duration 28:46   SRND51 TVY (Secondary audio: DVI)

Sesame Street [#4635H] Meet Julia Alan, Abby, Elmo and their friend Julia are painting as Big Bird walks by. Big Bird mentions how great everyone's paintings are and tries to give Julia a high-five but she happily goes off to play. Big Bird doesn't think Julia likes him but Alan explains that Julia has autism and for her it means that she may not answer him right away, speak a lot and or do what he might expect like give him a high-five; she does things just a little differently. Julia does love playing with her friends so Big Bird suggests that they play tag. Elmo tags Julia and she boings like a rubber ball after them. Big Bird says he's never played tag like this before. Alan tells Big Bird that Julia does things differently, things that Big Bird might even want to try, like boing tag. Big Bird thinks it does look like fun and joins in. Just then fire truck sirens go off and Julia stops boinging and covers her ears. Big Bird doesn't realize that the sirens are bothering Julia and he tags her. This upsets Julia some more so Alan suggests that they take a break and brings her to a quieter place. To help her calm down, Alan gives Julia her stuffed animal and together they take deep breaths. Julia feels better and is ready to play again. While waiting for Julia to return, Big Bird tells Abby and Elmo that Julia's not like any friend he's ever had before. Abby and Elmo help Big Bird realize that none of them are exactly the same; all of Big Birds friends are different and each one is unique. Julia comes back and together, she, Big Bird, Abby, Elmo, and Alan play and sing, celebrating how everyone is special and amazing. duration 28:46   STEREO TVY (Secondary audio: DVI)

Dinosaur Train [#203] Stargazing on the Night Train/Get Into Nature! The Pteranodon family rides a special 'Night Train" to another part of the Cretaceous Time Period, where they meet a Troodontid "cousin" of the Conductor's, Sidney Sinovenator, who knows more about the stars than anyone. Sidney takes the family up to his favorite stargazing spot, "Starry Hill," and teaches the kids why the stars seem to move across the night sky. When the kids build their own version of a nest on the beach, below their actual family nest up on the cliff, they get the idea to turn their beach nest into a clubhouse. Shiny thinks that a clubhouse needs a club, and "the Nature Trackers" club is born! The kids decide to make their club about getting outside, getting into nature, and making new discoveries. The only problem is: which kid is in charge of the club? duration 28:55   SRND51 TVY (Secondary audio: DVI)

Dinosaur Train [#204] Shiny and Snakes/Tiny Loves Flowers Shiny gets over her fear of snakes when Tiny challenges the Nature Trackers to meet the ultimate snake: the Sanajeh, a huge Cretaceous snake from what is now India. Dad takes the kids on the Dinosaur Train to find Sana Sanajeh, who may be huge, but turns out to be quite friendly. Once Shiny and Sana become friends, Shiny returns home with the knowledge that snakes aren't scary - they're just another part of nature! Tiny is horrified when her favorite buttercups all wilt, so Mom takes her and the family to the Big Pond, where she remembers seeing a whole lot of buttercups in bloom. On the way there, the Conductor gives the kids a visual lesson in "Nature's Life Cycle," explaining how a flower grows, blossoms, then wilts, and returns its seeds to the ground, to start the cycle all over again. Tiny finds her flowers at the Big Pond, both blooming and wilting, and can see nature's life cycle in action. duration 28:55   SRND51 TVY (Secondary audio: DVI)
