The Arab Americans This documentary illustrates the contributions made to the American fabric for almost 200 years by those who immigrated to the United States from the Middle East, North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. This untold story vividly paints a portrait of the Arab-American immigrant experience through the stories of people who, like all Americans, immigrated in pursuit of the American Dream, including Senator George Mitchell, actor Jamie Farr, General John Abizaid, NYT foreign correspondent Anthony Shadid, Helen Thomas and more.
With historical immigration patterns as background, the film explores the personal stories of Arab-Americans and how they have contributed to the collective American experience. At a time when the media tends to paint people from Arabic speaking countries and culture with the broad brush of terrorism, it is increasingly important to present a positive image of the many people of the Middle East, North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula who have made America their home, and highlight their American journey as an important part of the larger American Experience.

Emery Blagdon and His Healing Machine With pliers in hand, Nebraska artist Emery Blagdon fashioned pieces of wire into patterns and attached foil, beads, ribbons and an infinite array of everyday cast-off items. He hung the creations he called his "pretties" in his rural Nebraska shed, creating an environment he believed could generate natural energy from the earth and help people attain better health.
The stories of Blagdon, his "Healing Machine" and the two men responsible for preserving this great American art are told in this film. Local pharmacist Dan Dryden befriended the man with unkempt hair, a long beard and overalls when Blagdon visited the store to buy supplies. When Dryden visited his farm, he was astonished by Blagdon's creations.
When Blagdon died, his farmstead and the "Healing Machine" were up for auction. To keep his art from being separated or destroyed, Dryden and his friend Don Christensen purchased the "Healing Machine." His masterpiece is now on display at the John Michael Kohler Art Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Emery Blagdon is known by art collectors and museum visitors as a man with boundless visionary creativity - an artist of great significance.

Not Without Us Not Without Us follows seven grassroots activists from around the world to the 21st U.N. Climate Talks in Paris. The effects of climate change on their lives reveal what's at stake if a strong agreement to limit carbon emissions is not reached. Yet, the landmark Paris Accords, signed by 195 nations, is non-binding and fails to mention the main cause of global climate change: fossil fuels. Not Without Us connects the dots between the inability of the U.N. process to address climate change and Big Oil's control over governments, between the economic inequality and the oncoming climate disaster, and between a fossil fuel driven economy and the 1% who control it. Not Without Us demonstrates the importance of grassroots groups to empower mass movements to create systemic change. duration 59:00   STEREO TVG (Secondary audio: none)
