Sebak and his crew traveled from Maine to New Orleans to San Jose, talking to sandwich makers, sandwich eaters and sandwich lovers. *George's Sandwich Shop, Philadelphia PA - This shop, opened in 1936, is run today by the grandson of the original owner.
*Peanut Butter & Company, New York, NY - All the sandwiches are made with homemade peanut butter (6 different kinds).
*Schwabl's, Buffalo NY - Beef-on-weck is the big seller.
*Kelly's, Boston, MA - On the oldest public beach in the U. S., this walk-up sandwich shop is open year-round.
*Philippe's, Los Angeles CA - This restaurant's legendary French Dip sandwich got its start in 1918 when a policeman raved about his sandwich, which had been accidentally dropped in pan drippings.
*Mr. Beef, Chicago IL - In this shop there's a special way to "eat a beef" - standing up at a high counter.
*Taylor's Maid-Rite, Marshalltown IA - Started in 1928 by the current owner's great grandfather, this shop serves only one sandwich - a loose meat sandwich made of finely ground hamburger with no seasoning.
*Dallesandro's - Geno's - Pat's; Philadelphia PA - Cheese steaks are part of South Philly's culture. Dallesandro's is known for its superb cheese steaks. Two establishments on opposite corners - Pat's (gutsy) and Geno's (a bit more gentrified) - have their loyal fans too.
*Chickie's Italian Deli, Philadelphia PA - In another family- owned shop, the Italian vegetable hoagie - created by the owner - is the big seller.
*C & K Barbecue, St. Louis MO - This is where to stop when you're in the mood for ribs with a great sauce and topped with potato salad - or pig's ears and snoots.
*Ferguson's, St. Louis MO - Chow down on a brain sandwich at this neighborhood eatery.
*Kim Van, St. Louis MO - This Chinese restaurant serves up an inexpensive creation called the St. Paul sandwich.
*Huong Lan, San Jose CA - This shop serves a Vietnamese variation on the classic sub that the owner's parents created 20 years ago, called a "bahn mai."
*Primanti Brothers, Pittsburgh PA - Known for their famous "Almost Famous" sandwich.
* Isaly's, Pittsburgh, PA - The most popular sandwich served here is the chipped ham "Slammer."
* Brown Hotel, Louisville KY - In 1923, a chef at this hotel created the "Hot Brown" sandwich originally served late at night around Kentucky Derby time.
*Red's Eats, Wiscasset ME - This small shop has been serving one of the country's best lobster rolls since 1938.
*Domilise's, New Orleans LA - This family-owned business has been going strong for over 70 years, known for its sandwiches and friendly staff.
*Central Grocery, New Orleans LA - For over 4 decades, this business has been serving top quality sandwiches called muffalettas, which is even better the next day.
* Thelma's Barbecue, Houston TX - Thelma, a former truck driver, now has her dream job - running her own BBQ restaurant.< br>* Sepal, Watertown MA - This restaurant was started by a Palestinian immigrant, inspired by his mother's recipe for a falafel sandwich. < br>*Katz's Deli, New York NY - Since 1888, Katz's has been serving sandwiches, including their famous pastrami sandwich. duration 56:46 STEREO TVG -
