1:00 amBroadway Or Bust [#102H] Boot Camp Boot camp - there's no other way to describe it. The second episode picks up where the first left off, launching headlong into the fire of the rehearsals, coaching and coaxing sessions that take place during one week of intense preparation for the auditions and the awards ceremony, popularly known as "The Jimmy Awards" in honor of renowned Broadway theater owner and producer James M. Nederlander. Fighting fatigue, the eager performers quickly see what a learn-by-immersion experience is all about - and get an eye-opening look at what life is like on Broadway. The central drama of the episode lies in both the progress and setbacks of the individual performers. As the week moves along and the final auditions loom, the program closes with another round of uncertainty. Participants dig in and launch into last-minute preparations for their auditions. 2:00 amBroadway Or Bust [#103H] And The Winner Is ... The show at New York's Minskoff Theatre is the final act and crowning highlight of the miniseries. The 60 finalists prepare for the big day. In just six hours, the lights will go up, the theater will be filled and, with the downbeat of the orchestra leader's baton, it'll be show time. Going into the final competition awards show, all of the judges have a short list of top contenders, but during the show itself, they'll be asked once again to give scores to the leading performers based on the group performances and individual medleys. At intermission, the judges will cut the group to six finalists. Those six will perform their solos, and after another round, the judges will choose the two winners. In the words of director Van Kaplan, "This week ... is going to shape their whole lives, whether they go into the theater or not." duration 56:46 STEREO TVPG (Secondary audio: DVI)

5:00 amNova [#3803H] Making Stuff Smaller How small can we go? Could we one day have robots taking "fantastic voyages" in our bodies to kill rogue cells? The triumphs of tiny are seen all around us in the Information Age: transistors, microchips, laptops, cell phones. Now, David Pogue takes Nova viewers to an even smaller world in Making Stuff Smaller, examining the latest in high-powered nano-circuits and microrobots that may one day hold the key to saving lives and creating materials from the ground up, atom by atom. Pogue explores the star materials of small applications, including silicon, the stuff of computer chips, and carbon, the element now being manipulated at the atomic level to produce future technology. "Smaller" and more portable stuff has already revolutionized the way we live. The nanotechnology to come could change the face of medicine, with intelligent pills that know what medicine to release into the body and treat patients from the "inside" based on changing needs; robots that repair damaged body parts; and more. duration 56:46 STEREO TVPG (Secondary audio: DVI)

8:00 amCurious George [#128] The Elephant Upstairs/Being Hundley * The Elephant Upstairs: George hears a loud thumping sound coming from the ceiling of their apartment and becomes convinced that the new upstairs neighbor has an elephant for a pet. When The Man with the Yellow Hat points out how unlikely that is, George decides to investigate further and comes to the conclusion that if it's not an elephant, it must be a Galapagos Turtle who eats a lot of crackers, likes to wrap presents, and use a juicer. When they finally pay their new neighbor a visit, the real story is even more interesting than George's theory. Educational Objective: To understand that different objects can produce sounds that are similar in volume and pitch. If you are unable to observe the source of the sound, you may make incorrect inferences.
* Being Hundley: George gets tired of being a monkey because monkeys have to clean their room, brush their teeth, and go to bed early. So he experiments with being a cat and a pigeon but decides that the best of all is to be a dog like Hundley. Hundley is not at all happy with this plan but doesn't manage to convince George that there's room for only one lobby dog at this apartment building. It takes an elevator getting stuck between floors to help George realize being a monkey can be pretty useful in a pinch. Educational Objective: To learn how the form and behaviors of each kind of animal are related to how they meet the animal's needs.
