Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert 2015 (Episode #4008H)

Once again, the world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic performs the Summer Night Concert from the spectacular baroque gardens of Austria's Imperial Palace of Schonbrunn. This year the open-air concert is under the direction of guest conductor Zubin Mehta and features internationally acclaimed pianist Rudolf Buchbinder as soloist in Edvard Grieg's powerful Piano Concerto. The concert opens with a festive Fanfare that was written especially for the orchestra by Richard Strauss, and includes such favorite compositions as Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite and Jean Sibelius' Finlandia . And what concert in Vienna would be complete without a waltz by Strauss and Johann Strauss Sohn.

In this adaptation, Ben Whishaw plays King Richard II with Rory Kinnear as his challenger, Bolingbroke. John of Gaunt is played by Patrick Stewart, with David Suchet as The Duke of York and David Morrissey as Northumberland. Tom Hughes is Aumerle, and Mowbray is played by James Purefoy. Clemence Poesy plays the role of Queen Isabella and Lindsay Duncan plays The Duchess of York. It is directed by Rupert Goold who co-adapted the play with Ben Power.
