See if the objects found at the Secaucus AR floated upstream or downstream in the last 15 years: A circa 1900 folk art ship model was bought at a yard sale in 1996, valued at $5000 to $7000, and now is sinking fast to $300 to $500; but a gaming table bought for $25 and appraised at $200,000 to $300,000 now could score $400,000 to $600,000.

The 1997-1998 rainfall season was the second wettest (47.22 inches) in the 149 seasons recorded beginning in 1849. AR's 1998 trip to the City by the Bay featured a modest-looking Eskimo hunting helmet with an estimated value that has swelled from its original $65,000 to $75, 000 to $100,000 to $125,000, while a 1385 English silver spoon declined from $10,000 to $20,000 to $5000 to $8000.

In 1997, The Haters, one of the earliest and best known conceptual art and "noise" bands, performed their latest release, "Drunk on Decay," live in Pittsburgh. AR's event in the Steel City was a sober affair featuring such bright new discoveries as a gold, silver and ruby bracelet whose value has shined up from $6000 to a current $10, 000 to $12,000, while the value of a handsome Victorian sideboard has crumbled from $12,000 to $15,000 to $5000 to $8000.

Highlights include a trio of Albert Cheuret art deco clocks; a Marx "Roy Rogers" play set; and a historical collection, once owned by our nation's first postmaster general, including a Thomas Jefferson letter previously valued at $100,000, now valued for $300, 000-$350,000.

Vintage Phoenix (Episode #1622#)

AR's first visit to Phoenix was in 1997, when Arizona's biggest story was a UFO sighting dubbed the "Phoenix Lights." Flash forward 15 years for these believe-it-or-not AR moments: "Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus," the original 1897 letter to the New York Sun, was appraised at $20,000 to $30,000 and gets a nice current value of $30, 000 to $50,000; on the other hand, a circa 1890 mechanical bank, then worth $3700, gets a lump of coal and a current value of $1000 to $ 1500.
