National Memorial Day Concert Previous Broadcasts

KQED 9: Sun, May 25, 2014 -- 8:00 PM

Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise co-host the 25th anniversary broadcast of this night of remembrance honoring the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform, their families at home and all those who have given their lives for our country. The concert airs live from the West Lawn of the US Capitol before an audience of hundreds of thousands, millions at home, and to our troops around the world via American Forces Network.
The all-star line-up includes distinguished American leader Colin L. Powell USA (Ret.); two-time Academy and Emmy Award-winning actress Dianne Wiest; country music sensation and "The Voice" 2013 winner Danielle Bradbery; Broadway and television star Megan Hilty; musical prodigy and classical crossover star Jackie Evancho; and world-renowned tenor Anthony Kearns; in performance with the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly (additional artists to be announced) .
Also participating in the event are the US Joint Chiefs of Staff with The US Army Herald Trumpets, The US Army Chorus, The Soldiers Chorus of the US Army Field Band, The US Navy Band Sea Chanters, The US Air Force Singing Sergeants, the Armed Forces Color Guard and Service Color Teams provided by the Military District of Washington DC.

      UPDATE: This problem has been resolved, and the OTA signal for the DT54 channels restored. (DT54.1 through 54.5) KQED Plus’ Over the Air transmission is currently off air via our KQEH transmitter on Monument Peak northeast of San Jose. Technicians are working on the problem.       We are aware of the break-up issues for our DT25 Over the Air signal in the Monterey/Salinas area. This will also affect viewers of any cable or satellite signal provider using that transmitter as their source. Engineers are working on the problem.

    • Week of 8/25: Sutro Tower work (including KQED 9 Over the Air)
