KQED World: Mon, Apr 8, 2013 -- 5:00 AM
This program introduces diverse individuals who have survived tragedies and traumas, and overcome mental and physical challenges, and now use their experiences to affect change and help others. Each thrives today because they refused to give up their struggle, even when all hope seemed lost. These compelling, uplifting and inspirational portraits attest to the strength of the human spirit and the power of positive thinking and action. Profiles include: a professional wheelchair athlete, Holocaust survivors, a homeless counselor, refugees from war-torn countries and a terminally ill cancer advocate.
