Fri 6/21: KQET planned maintenance outage
(DT 25.1 through 25.3) On Friday, June 21st, we will be doing maintenance on the KQET transmitter servicing the Watsonville, Monterey, Salinas, Gilroy areas. In 1986 the legendary Peter, Paul and Mary marked their 25th anniversary with the taping of their very first PBS TV special. Now, two and a half decades later, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the formation of the group in the famed Greenwich Village, this joyous yet deeply moving live concert is being re-released for March 2012 pledge. Peter, Paul and Mary's 25th Anniversary Concert features songs that became, for many, the soundtrack of their generation. In an era in which folk music became America's messenger of hope, Peter, Paul and Mary sounded a call to conscience that, to this day, remains an enduring part of our national quest for equity and justice. Perhaps as much as anyone, in a period of great turbulence and transformation, Peter, Paul and Mary inspired America to be the best we could be. That, indeed, is a formidable legacy and one that has made this trio and its music a true and enduring national treasure.
