As the Italian immigrants settled the Northeastern coast of the United States, they did what they knew from their homeland. In many cases, this included fishing for the local catch. In this episode, Lidia makes Calamari Fra Diavolo over Linguine and she also prepares a Salt Cod, Potato & String Bean Salad. For dessert, there is nothing like a super simple and totally delicious "Zuppa Inglese."

But Pittsburgh's other well known "Little Italy" is called Bloomfield. In this episode, Lidia shares recipes from both of these areas, Braised Veal Shank, Olive Oil Mashed Potatoes and Peas with Bacon. She also visits with Maria Merante, a wonderful Italian American woman who left her mark in Pittsburgh.

We'll even enjoy a moment where Lidia went back to Emilia Romagna to visit with her dear friend, Monica, to see how the chickens there are raised and appreciated.

The Sicilians were a large immigrant community in lower Manhattan and other areas of New York City, and they brought with them several dishes from their homeland. She then makes a Cappuccino Cake which she actually discovered in New Orleans - another locale with a very large Sicilian population.
