Mon 5/06: very brief KQED DT9 OTA outage
(DT9.1, 9.2, 9.3) This morning we had a very brief outage of our over the air (OTA) coverage for KQED 9.1/9.2/9.3, which lasted apx 4 minutes. Mon 4/22: KQEH OTA signal back on air
(DT54.1 through DT54.5) The Over the Air (OTA) signal from our KQEH transmitter on Monument Peak was restored at apx 6:35pm this evening. Most tuners should automatically find the signal, however some OTA viewers may need to do a rescan to restore reception.

Mon 4/22: KQEH OTA planned overnight outage extended
Unexpected technical problems have been discovered at the KQEH transmitter site during planned maintenance overnight. KQED crews have identified the problem and are working to correct it as soon as possible. Please check back to this blog for status updates. Service to Comcast and other providers are uninterrupted.

D-Day to Berlin
In 1944 the future of Europe hung in the balance. This series follows the remarkable story of the Allied forces and the victories that set them on their way to ending World War II in 1945. The collective military operations from D-Day in June 1944, to the final assault on Germany in 1945 represent one of the greatest military offensives. Every Allied success loosened the Nazi grip on Western Europe, freeing it from repression and changing its history forever. Using a testimony-driven format, the program uses the accounts of British, American and German soldiers involved to form a dramatic narrative structure, while archive footage brings those savage battlefields to life once more.

With British and American armies poised to cross the Rhine and Soviet forces advancing towards Berlin, victory seemed certain and the Allies were planning a new Europe based on liberty and democracy. This edition draws on the memories of those who fought and on reconstructions to tell the story of the last desperate battles inside Germany and of how the dream of a new Europe crumbled in the ruins of Hitler's Reich. On 16 April 1945 the Soviets began their final assault on Berlin and fourteen days later Hitler was dead. But even before the victory celebrations were over, a new chill gripped the alliance. A new European order had emerged, but it was dominated by another dictator - the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin.
