Mon 5/06: very brief KQED DT9 OTA outage
(DT9.1, 9.2, 9.3) This morning we had a very brief outage of our over the air (OTA) coverage for KQED 9.1/9.2/9.3, which lasted apx 4 minutes. Mon 4/22: KQEH OTA signal back on air
(DT54.1 through DT54.5) The Over the Air (OTA) signal from our KQEH transmitter on Monument Peak was restored at apx 6:35pm this evening. Most tuners should automatically find the signal, however some OTA viewers may need to do a rescan to restore reception.

Mon 4/22: KQEH OTA planned overnight outage extended
Unexpected technical problems have been discovered at the KQEH transmitter site during planned maintenance overnight. KQED crews have identified the problem and are working to correct it as soon as possible. Please check back to this blog for status updates. Service to Comcast and other providers are uninterrupted.

Rough Cut - Woodworking with Tommy Mac
This series invites viewers into the workshop of Boston native and fine furniture maker Tommy MacDonald, a graduate of the famed Boston-based North Bennet Street School. Mitered Hall Table (Episode #304H)

This week on Rough Cut we're making a Mitered Hall Table out of one giant slab of figured maple. Tommy will show us how he achieves the look of one continuous grain pattern by interpreting the wood. And for the Road Trip Tommy takes us to Berkshire Hardwoods in Western Massachusetts where we meet owner, Jeff Poirier, and learn how he takes a local tree and turns it into a beautiful piece of stock.
Barley Twist Lamp (Episode #303H)

On this Rough Cut episode, Tommy tackles the difficult technique of off-set turning on a lathe when he makes the unique Barley Twist Lamp. The lamp is made out of beautiful mahogany and topped off with a specially made glass top designed and created just for this project. For the Road Trip, Tommy visits his good friend, glassblower, Niels Cosman at his Rhode Island School of Design studio. Niels will make a special appearance back at the Rough Cut shop when he personally delivers the finished lampshade to Tommy.
Workbench (Episode #302H)

This time, on Rough Cut, Tommy takes on the key tool in any woodshop - the workbench. With help from his shop coordinator and Rough Cut technical advisor, Eli Cleveland, Tommy will demonstrate how to make a workbench with mortise and tenon joinery and a beautiful solid maple top.

Back in the shop, series favorite, Al D'Attansio, joins Tommy.
