This documentary tells the story of four everyday plants and the way they have domesticated humankind by fulfilling our desires even as we've fulfilled the plants' desires. Based on Michael Pollan's book, The Botany of Desire: A Plant's Eye View of the World, it roams the world, from the potato fields of Idaho and Peru to the apple orchards of New England, from a medical marijuana hot house to the tulip markets of Amsterdam. Along the way, the program explores the natural history of the apple, the tulip, marijuana, and the potato - and the human desires that link their destinies to our own.
