This documentary tracks the influence of Tennessee Tech University tuba professor R. Winston Morris on tuba music worldwide. Filmmaker Todd Jarrell shadowed Morris for nearly two years. The film traces Morris' tuba-loving predecessors, including Bill Bell, who played for John Phillip Sousa and Toscanini, and his protege, Harvey Phillips who mentored Morris. The film also documents the Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble's recent performance at Carnegie Hall. Every year for the past 40 years, Morris has brought together his past and present tuba students to form the ensemble, and he commissions world-class composers such as Adam Gorb and Gunther Schuller to write pieces for the group to perform.
