Reverend John Wilkins (Episode #707H)

Reverend John Wilkins blends the best of Memphis and North Mississippi Hill Country blues. Wilkins' father was also a venerated gospel and blues artist who influenced him, both musically and spiritually. When Wilkins was learning to play guitar, he picked up his father's gospel and country blues styles. He also followed his father's call to ministry and became pastor of Hunter's Chapel Church, where he has led a congregation that includes generations of North Mississippi musicians. In this episode, Reverend John and his band perform several songs including "You Got to Move" and "Sinner's Prayer."

Rolling Stone named Margo Price & her band the Price Tags as artists to watch, describing the music as "deeply personal and painstakingly crafted" with Margo's voice her "hitting haunting high notes with weariness and reverence." Margo recently signed with Jack White's Third Man Records and her music evokes White's collaboration with Loretta Lynn. In his episode, Margo and her band perform fan favorites, including "I Put a Hurtin' on the Bottle."

    • Fremont Peak Tower Maintenance

      *UPDATE: The tower crew will work the Fremont peak tower as of 11am, Thursday, Nov 30th. We will need to lower power on KQET, Channel 25, to 25% at 10:30am through 4-5pm. Thank you for your patience!

    • Scheduled Maintenance 8/21-8/25

      Next week, Sutro Tower will be switching most stations to their auxiliary antennas. KQED TV will be at half power on the lower auxiliary antenna, this will affect some of our Over The Air viewers. Maintenance is scheduled on August 21-25 from 9am through 4pm daily. Thank you for your patience!

    • 2/22/17: Fremont Peak tower transmissions, including KQET DT25

      (DT25.1 through 25.3) Recent storms have taken out dozens of trees on Fremont Peak, which in turn have taken down power lines leading to the transmission tower located on the peak.
