But life for the Belgian super sleuth is never quiet for long. No sooner has a new tenant moved into the third floor flat of Poirot's mansion block than she is murdered, giving Poirot a crime to solve on his very own doorstep.

Poirot is dining out at a London chop house one evening when eminent artist Henry Gasgcoine enters the restaurant for his customary dinner. The next morning, Poirot is intrigued to read in the newspaper that the painter has been found dead. When a post-mortem reveals that Gasgcoine died after eating only a little food, Poirot concludes he has been murdered and that it was actually the killer he saw in the restaurant.

The Adventure of Johnnie Waverly (Episode #103)

Poirot is called in to investigate a series of kidnap threats against the three-year-old son of a wealthy aristocrat. However, once installed at Waverly Court, Poirot becomes suspicious about the child's parents especially when the servants are suddenly dismissed. The absence of a cook forces Poirot and Hastings to look elsewhere for a decent meal, which in turn leads to vital information about the planned kidnap.

Double Sin (Episode #207)

Hastings is disturbed by Poirot's talk of retiring and suggests they take a short holiday in the Northwest of England. On a day trip to Lake Windermere, Hastings is very taken with fellow passenger Mary Durrant who confides that she is carrying valuable antiques which she intends to sell to a client. When the antiques are stolen en route Hastings takes charge - the newly retired Poirot affecting complete disinterest in the theft.
