In a historic first for any major performing arts institution in this country or abroad, the Metropolitan Opera this season will transmit 7 of its Saturday matinee performances live in high definition into movie theaters in the United States, Canada and Europe. These productions will later be broadcast on PBS.

This new production of Giacomo Puccini's Tosca is staged by Luc Bondy in his Met debut, and stars Karita Mattila in her first Met performance of the title role. James Levine conducts. Sets are by Richard Peduzzi, with costumes by Milena Canonero and lighting by Dominque Brugiere.
