Dr. Sue Chan is medical director and a founding member of Asian Health Services in Oakland. As an immigrant and speaker of multiple Chinese dialects, she has spent the past 30 years caring for the health of immigrant Asian families. Under her guidance, the organization has grown from a one-room clinic staffed by volunteers to a nationally recognized health center that serves 14,000 patients in eight Asian languages and dialects. Dr. Chan has also developed a program to combat domestic violence and works extensively to cultivate leadership in young physicians.
