Hoa Trinh Glassey
Founder, Association for Viet Arts
San Jose, CA

Hoa Trinh Glassey
Hoa Trinh Glassey is the Chairperson for the Association for Viet Arts (AVA). She co-founded AVA in 1991 and is the sole founder remaining on the Board. AVA is the first non-profit organization in the Bay Area dedicated to promoting Vietnamese American arts. Through the arts, AVA strives to bridge the gap between Vietnamese and mainstream culture. Over the last 15 years, Ms. Glassey has worked tirelessly to bring to the community programs that feature emerging and established Vietnamese and Vietnamese-American artists from all disciplines: musicians, dancers, visual and performing artists, theatrical groups, poets, and comedians. The latest AVA exhibit is the traditional Vietnamese tunics called the ao dai. This exhibit features designers from Vietnam and the U.S. Ms. Glassey also believes in nurturing arts in the young and has expanded AVA's educational programs to children under five.

As an attorney, Ms. Glassey worked for seven years at the Mental Health Advocacy Project representing mentally disabled people. She provides pro bono services to low income clients in her private practice and through Pro Bono Project's Lawyers in the Library Program. Ms. Glassey currently works for the Santa Clara County Superior Court as a hearing officer.
Ms. Glassey was recognized by San Jose Mayor Susan Hammer as one of the "Outstanding Women of Silicon Valley" in 1997. She has been married for 18 years and is the mother of three children.
