Grant Din
Executive Director, Asian Neighborhood Design
San Francisco, CA
Since July 2002, Grant Din has been the executive director of the San Francisco-based Asian Neighborhood Design (A.N.D.), a nationally recognized organization that seeks to reduce poverty and revitalize neighborhoods in the Bay Area. Since he began working with A.N.D. as the director of resource development in 1990, Mr. Din has diligently pursued the organization's mission to empower, transform and improve the lives of low-income and disenfranchised individuals and communities.
Mr. Din first came to understand the value of community-based organizations in 1975 when, as a high school senior, he received a college scholarship from the Marcus A. Foster Educational Institute (MAFEI), which seeks to help children in the Oakland public school system. Since then, Mr. Din has given back to MAFEI by serving on its board for nine years.
Mr. Din was instrumental in co-founding the Bay Area Asians in Resource Development in the early 1990s to support members of the Asian Pacific community conducting fundraising activities. He also serves as the treasurer for the National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development, dedicated to addressing the needs of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities nationwide. Mr. Din has served on the boards of the Asian Law Caucus and the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Golden Gate Chapter.
