Self-Help for the Elderly
San Francisco, CA

Anni Chung
Anni Chung is currently president and chief executive officer for Self-Help for the Elderly, a leading social service provider for the elderly in the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 1966, Self-Help now serves more than 25,000 seniors annually in San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. It operates 17 senior centers, a 70-unit senior housing complex, three residential care facilities for frail elderly, an adult day health care and Alzheimer's day care center, two technology centers and many more facilities. It also provides case management and citizenship services for immigrant seniors, primarily Chinese speaking. Chung was the driving force behind all of these initiatives.

Chung serves on many boards and is a recognized community leader and advocate for health, social, employment, and consumer programs locally and nationally. She is the founder and chair of the Asian Pacific American Community Partnership and the Asian Pacific Islander American Consumer Coalition, comprised of statewide and national organizations and business leaders.

Chung is an innovative and committed community leader and advocate. She is a force that has successfully brought together nongovernmental, business and governmental institutions to work on behalf of the underserved in our communities.
